AES Ocean LNG, Ltd. - The Bahamas AES has received all U.S. and Bahamian environmental approvals related to the construction of a 900,000 MMbtu/day LNG import terminal that will be located in The Bahamas. Though it is located in The Bahamas, AES designed and permitted the facility in accordance with U.S. codes and standards. The terminal will vaporize LNG and transport natural gas via a 95-mile pipeline to the Florida market.
EcoEléctrica - Peñuelas, Puerto Rico Prior to joining AES, the AES LNG team was responsible for the joint development of the EcoEléctrica LNG Facility, which is located in Peñuelas, Puerto Rico. The project, which consists of an LNG import terminal and a 507 megawatt combined-cycle power plant, was the first LNG import facility permitted under U.S. law since the facility in Cove Point, Maryland. EcoEléctrica began commercial operations in March 2000 as the first independent power producer in Puerto Rico. All of the power produced in the plant is sold to the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority. The power plant makes use of the same innovative inlet chilling system as used in the AES Andres facility. ![]() Back to the Top |
